How my journey began
I started my career as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language in Poland back in 1993, teaching in private schools and colleges. I then started my own business teaching English to business professionals (e.g. IKEA, Vattenfall), and doing proofreading, copy editing and voice recording for Polish companies.
I absolutely loved Poland (and still do!), but eventually had to return to the UK for family reasons after being there for around 15 years. On returning to the UK, I became a qualified teacher in English for Speakers of Other Languages, and completed a master's degree in Applied Linguistics at the Open University. I’ve been working in UK Higher Education for over 10 years now, and work mainly with international students. I have completed a PhD around Chinese students and their experiences in the UK.
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
“The difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter. ’tis the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning.”
